Fusion biopsies have become a fundamental part of our clinical practice in recent years and are performed several hundred times annually. Our skilled team possesses extensive experience in this field. We utilise advanced technology called micro-ultrasound, which combines on-site ultrasound images with the provided MRI images.
Micro-Ultrasound ExactVu
Our high-resolution micro-ultrasound enables us to accurately visualise suspicious areas of the prostate, comparable to the level of accuracy achieved with an mpMRI. Traditional ultrasound machines typically operate at 5 to 9 megahertz. However, with ExactVu, we generate images at an impressive 29 megahertz, resulting in significantly improved image quality compared to previous technologies.
Moreover, we can import and utilise your existing mpMRI images as usual.
As an example, you can observe the difference in image quality using a kiwi:
Conventional ultrasound
High-resolution micro-ultrasound
Thanks to micro-ultrasound, we can provide a more precise diagnosis even for patients who are unable to undergo an mpMRI due to various reasons such as:
- Implants (specific prostheses, cochlear implants, pacemakers, etc.)
- Claustrophobia
- Obesity
